フロリダ出身のデスメタルバンド “Monstrosity” は、2026年3月13日に Metal Blade Records からリリースされるフルアルバム『Screams From Beneath The Surface』に先駆け、第2弾シングル「The Atrophied」を公開した。新曲にはビジュアライザー映像も付随している。

「The Atrophied」は前作シングル「The Colossal Rage」に続く楽曲で、バンドのアグレッシブかつ技巧的なデスメタル・スタイルを示す内容となっている。ドラムの Lee Harrison はこの曲について、力強いドラムロールと Mark Van Erp の旋回するベースイントロから始まり、激烈なブラスティングへと進行すると説明している。Ed Webb のボーカルは深いグロウルから鋭いハイトーンへと移行し、楽曲に圧倒的な迫力を加えている。ギターの Matt Barnes はこの曲が15分級の叙事詩的構造を凝縮したような楽曲であるとコメントしている。

“Monstrosity” は1990年代初頭から活動する米国のデスメタルバンドで、これまでに複数のスタジオアルバムを発表してきた。最新アルバム『Screams From Beneath The Surface』は、前作『The Passage of Existence』以来約7年ぶりのフルアルバムとなる予定である。『Screams From Beneath The Surface』には「Banished To The Skies」、「The Dark Aura」、「Fortunes Engraved In Blood」といった楽曲も収録される。

アルバム発表後、バンドは “Screams Across Europe Tour 2026” と題したヨーロッパ・ツアーを行う予定で、Bio-Cancer、Reject The Sickness、Deadwood が共演する日程が組まれている。

フロリダ出身のデスメタルバンド”Monstrosity”は、ニューアルバム『Screams From Beneath The Surface』を2026年3月13日にMetal Blade Recordsよりリリースすることを発表し、先行シングル「The Colossal Rage」のミュージックビデオを公開した。これはバンドにとって7年ぶりとなるフルアルバムであり、全10曲が収録される予定である。

代表的な収録曲には「Banished To The Skies」「The Atrophied」「The Dark Aura」「Fortunes Engraved In Blood」などが含まれる。バンドは、ドラマーで創設メンバーのLee Harrisonを中心に、長年在籍するギタリストMatt Barnes、オリジナルベーシストのMark Van Erp、そして新ヴォーカリストのEd Webb（ex-Massacre）というラインナップで活動している。Ed Webbは先行曲「The Colossal Rage」で力強いヴォーカルを披露している。

『Screams From Beneath The Surface』の制作は複数のスタジオで行われた。ドラムとベースおよびミックスはJason Suecofが務めたAudiohammer Studiosで、ヴォーカルとギターおよびマスタリングは伝説的なMorrisound StudiosでJim Morrisらと共に行われた。アルバムのアートワークはアーティストのTimbul Cahyonoによって手描きで制作された。
