インダストリアル・メタル/ニューメタル・バンド Static-X が、1999年のデビューアルバム 『Wisconsin Death Trip』 の日本盤ボーナストラックであった B サイド曲 「Down」のストリーミング配信を解禁した。あわせて、新たに制作されたビジュアライザー映像も公開されている。

「Down」はこれまで公式リリースされたことがなく、長らくファンの間で「幻のトラック」とされてきた楽曲。今回公開された映像には、1998年に撮影された未公開の写真や映像素材が使用されており、ファンにとっては当時のバンドの姿を“タイムカプセル”として振り返る貴重な機会となっている。

また、「Down」 は、同バンドのデビュー作 25周年を記念した再発盤『Wisconsin Death Trip – 25th Anniversary Corrosive Edition』に収録されることが発表されている。リマスターはオリジナル・プロデューサーの Ulrich Wild が担当し、デラックスなボックスセットとしてリリースされる予定だ。

この動きは、デビュー作リリースから四半世紀――バンドとファンの歴史を再評価し、あらためて『Wisconsin Death Trip』の記憶を更新する試みとして注目されている。

The Ultimate Death Trip – celebrating the 25th anniversary of the platinum debut album Wisconsin Death Trip, the band have teamed with their original producer and the original photographer from the album shoot to create the definitive version of this classic album. The album has been remastered by original Producer Ulrich Wild and a second disc of demos, alternate versions and rare tracks is included. The original photographer for the packaging unearthed hundreds of never before seen photos from the shoot and the band have used them to completely redesign the packaging.
