Chris Adler, ex drummer for groove metal legends Lamb of God, is back behind the kit with a new project, Shallow Rising. The band shared an official lyric video today for their debut track, “Further”.
日本でも絶大な人気を誇るメタルバンド、Lamb of GodとMastodonは、『Ashes of Leviathan』と『Leviathan』の20周年を記念した『Ashes of the Wake and Leviathan』ツアーを終えたばかりだ。Mastodonは、両バンドのコラボレーションが来週リリースされることを示唆するかのようなツイートをしている。9月20日には何かがリリースされる模様。見逃さないようにしよう。
Lamb of God and Mastodon recently wrapped up their “Ashes of Leviathan” tour, which found both bands celebrating 20 years of Ashes of the Wake and Leviathan every show performing the albums in full.
Last night, Mastodon tweeted what appears to hint at a collaboration between the two bands arriving next week.
「このアイデアは、Nikoが30年以上前に録音したデモ曲「The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter」を50歳の誕生日パーティーで演奏したいと言ったことから始まった。Fredrikは面白そうだと思い、ギターを弾きたいと申し出た。 その後、Andersも参加することになり、さらに友人達が加わり、このユニークなラインナップとしてバンドになり、かつての礎となった楽曲を作ることが出来たんだ。 一緒に演奏するのがとても楽しかったし、3人の元メンバーがオールドスクールなキラー音源をたくさん持っていることに気づいたので、演奏を続け、最終的には新曲をレコーディングすることを決めた、というのがバンドの始まりさ」。
Three former Amon Amarth members have reunited to form a new band called Fimbul Winter (not to be confused with the early 90’s Norwegian black metal group Fimbulwinter.)
The lineup includes original Amon Amarth members Niko Kaukinen on drums and Anders Biazzi (formerly Anders Hansson) on guitar, along with former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson, who now handles lead guitar duties. Joining them are Gustav Myrin on bass and Clint Williams on vocals.
Fimbul Winter is set to make their first official appearance at the Close-Up Båten cruise this September.

The focus for now is to play the old demo and classic songs we were all involved with in some way but we already have five original new songs written and demoed, some songs including riffs that were originally written for Amon Amarth, which will be recorded and released at some point.
The idea started with Niko wanting to play the demo ‘The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter’, which he recorded over 30 years ago, at his 50th-birthday party. Fredrik thought it sounded like fun and offered to play the guitar. After that Anders was asked to join in and then with the addition of friends Linus Nirbrant on bass and Clint on vocals, a selected amount of friends got to experience this unique lineup and hear the tracks that once laid the foundation to what was to become. Having so much fun playing together and realizing all three former members had a ton of killer old-school material, the decision to keep on playing and to eventually record new songs was made.
RIFF CULTのチームメンバーが運営しているRNR TOURSで招聘したことがあるバンドが掲載されていて驚きました。Light This City は2019年に初来日し、東名阪をツアー。かなり盛り上がった記憶があります。メンバーのLauraとBenはHeartsoundsというメロディックパンク・バンドでも活躍しており、HeartsoundsはEpitaph Recordsからアルバムをリリースした経歴もあり、こちらのツアーもRNR TOURSで企画しました。レビューの中に来日したことも明記されていて、自分のことのように嬉しかったですし、レビューも熱く、今一度アルバムを聴き返したいと思いました。

日本のバンドの紹介が充実している
Intestine Baalism、Blood Stain Childといった「メロデス」を語る上で欠かせない国内バンドのインタビューは読み応えありました。人柄が伝わってくるインタビューは、そのバンドをもっともっと好きになれるし、こうして書籍という形で残ることにとても意味を感じます。インタビュー以外にも日本のメタル・シーンについて丸々1ページ使って書かれた概要もかなり良くまとまってましたし、RNR TOURS/RIFF CULTで過去にブッキングさせていただいた多くのバンドが掲載されているのも嬉しかった。Alphoenix、Myproofをはじめ、Thousand Eyes、Serenity in Murder、Desolate Sphere、懐かしのDeGraceのレビューまで載ってるのが凄いです。View from the Soyuzの名前まで載ってます。
Imperial Circus Dead Decadenceかっこいい
日本のバンドのレビューをじっくり読みながら聴いていましたが、Imperial Circus Dead Decadenceは本当にかっこいい。もちろん存在は知っているし、聴いたこともありましたが、レビューを読みながら聴くという体験をしてみると、良さがさらに感じられました。「獄」はビデオもかっこいい。

2022年にアルバム『Shrine』をリリース、今年初めにAugust Burns RedとThe Devil Wears Pradaとの全米ツアーを成功させたBleed From Within (ブリード・フロム・ウィズイン)が、『Shrine』のデラックス・エディションのリリースに収録される新曲として「The Will To Resist」を発表しました。
ドラマーのAli Richardson (アリ・リチャードソン)は次のように語っている：
「『Shrine』をリリースしてからの1年は、私たちにとって素晴らしい時間だったよ。ツアー・スケジュールが埋まっていくにつれて、このアルバムが私たちのキャリアに与えている効果を本当に理解し始めたので、ファンのためにデラックス・エディションをリリースするというアイデアを実行に移したんだ。ここに収録されている3曲の新曲は、最初のリリースにほぼ含まれていたものだが、どれも構成がまったく違っていて、最終的なトラックリストを決めるまでに何度も議論があったんだ。”The Will To Resist “は、バンドのお気に入りとしてデラックス・エディションのリード・シングルに選んだ。その激しさがリスナーの心に響くと確信しているよ」。
今年後半にはEPのリリースを目指しているKryour。2014年に結成され、アルバム『Where Treasures Are Nothing』でデビュー。誕生から死までの事実を軸に、人間の価値観や回復力を取り上げたコンセプチュアルな作品で、プロデュースはディエゴ・カストロ、ジャケット・アートはカルロス・フィデス（Evergrey、Narnia、Semblant、Shaman）が手がけている。700以上のエントリーがあったコンテスト「New Rock Bands」の優勝バンドのひとつで、プログレッシヴ・メタルの巨匠、Symphony Xとステージを共にした経験もある。

スウェーデンのメロディック・デスメタル・バンド、Amon Amarth (アモン・アマース)が、2022年にリリースしたアルバム『The Great Heathen Army』の収録曲「Heidrun」の新バージョンを収録したEP『Heidrun』を配信リリース、またそれに伴うミュージックビデオを公開しました。
この新しい4曲入りシングルには、タイトル曲の新しいリミックス・ヴァージョンと、実際のヤギによる「ヴォーカル」をフィーチャーしたヴァージョンが収録されている。また、今年の「Graspop Metal Meeting」での「Heidrun」と、今年の「Hellfest Open Air」での「Put Your Back Into The Oar」の2曲のライヴ・トラックも収録。「Heidrun」の魅力を多方面から味わえる面白い企画盤に仕上がっている。
