フィンランドのメロディック・デスメタルバンド”Omnium Gatherum”は、サプライズとして新曲「Moongold」を公開した。同曲は、2025年にリリースされた最新アルバム『May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way』のレコーディングセッション中に書かれ録音されたトラックであり、アルバムに付随するボーナストラックとして位置づけられている。リリースは、バンドが2026年2月11日よりヨーロッパ・ヘッドラインツアーを開始するタイミングに合わせて行われた。
“The Halo Effect”は、IN FLAMESの元メンバーであるJesper Strömblad（ギター）、Daniel Svensson（ドラム）、Peter Iwers（ベース）、Niclas Engelin（ギター）、そしてStanne（ボーカル）によって構成されているスーパーグループである。彼らは2025年1月にセカンドアルバム『March Of The Unheard』をNuclear Blast Recordsよりリリースしている。
リッチモンド出身のテクニカルデスメタルバンド”Carrion Vael”は、新曲「Truth or Consequences」の公式ミュージックビデオを公開した。この楽曲は、2026年1月16日にUnique Leader Recordsからリリースされた最新アルバム『Slay Utterly』に収録されている。公開された映像は「Truth or Consequences」のパフォーマンスを捉えたものであり、同作アルバムの核となる楽曲のひとつとして映像作品化されている。
メロディック・メタルコアバンド”All That Remains”は、ギタリストのKen Susi（元Unearth／元As I Lay Dying）を新たなメンバーとして迎えたことを発表した。
Ken Susiは、1998年にUnearthでリズムギタリスト兼バックボーカルとしてキャリアを開始し、2023年まで同バンドで活動していた。その後、2022年にはAs I Lay Dyingに加入し、2024年のアルバム『Through Storms Ahead』にもギタリストとして参加したが、同年秋にバンドを脱退している。
今回の加入は、バンドが前任のギタリストJason Richardsonとの決別を公表して以降の動きであり、新体制でツアー活動を再開する準備の一環とみられている。SusiはInstagramおよびAll That Remains側の投稿で新たな参加を喜びの言葉とともに表明し、バンドと共にステージへ戻ることへの意欲を示している。
All That Remainsは、マサチューセッツ州スプリングフィールド出身のバンドで、1998年の結成以来多数のフルアルバムをリリースしてきた。

フィンランド出身のメロディックデスメタル／プログレッシブメタルバンド Amorphis が、新シングル 「Crowned In Crimson」 とその公式ミュージックビデオを公開した。楽曲は現在デジタル配信サービスで視聴可能となっており、映像も各種プラットフォームで視聴できる。
「Crowned In Crimson」は、2026年1月16日公開予定の映画 『Son of Revenge – The Story of Kalevala』 のメインテーマ曲として制作された楽曲である。映像では、フロントマン Tomi Joutsen とその娘 Iida Joutsen による父娘ヴォーカル共演がフィーチャーされており、神話的な世界観と哀愁を帯びたサウンドが展開されている。
歌詞は長年のコラボレーター Pekka Kainulainen によって執筆され、フィンランド叙事詩『Kalevala』に登場する悲劇の英雄 Kullervo の物語を描いた内容となっている。音楽的には、2025年リリースのアルバム Borderland の流れを受け継ぎつつ、シネマティックな表現を併せ持つ構成である。
映像制作には映画監督 Antti Jokinen が関与しており、作品の世界観を映像として投影する試みがなされている。楽曲は映画タイアップのための単体シングルとして位置づけられているが、Amorphis のディスコグラフィーに新たな象徴的作品として追加される。
Songwriter and guitarist Esa Holopainen comments: “Director Antti Jokinen got in touch with us and briefly told us about his ambitious film project. We arranged a meeting with him during which we were able to see visual material from the film and go through the script. Antti hoped that AMORPHIS would create the film’s theme song – a project we agreed to immediately.”
“AMORPHIS’ music feels like strength wrapped in beauty – heavy enough to shake the landscape yet poetic. Their music really lifts my spirit into the world of Kalevala myths and its characters. Exactly what I was looking for when thinking about the theme song for my film. I’m very pleased they agreed to do it,” adds director Antti J. Jokinen.
2022年に結成された東京発メロディック・デスメタル・バンド、The Oath of the Wolvesが、ファーストアルバム『Crownless Ages』をBlack-listed Recordsよりリリースしました。2025年11月には先行シングル「Whispers of the Damned」を配信リリース、オーケストラやシンセサイザーを積極的に取り入れ、より広がりのあるサウンドと高い透明性を備えた新たな音楽性を提示し話題となっていた。
ミャンマー人のkoko（vo）が放つ歌声と咆哮は凶暴かつ内に眠る様々な感情を揺さぶり、思わず口ずさんでしまうキャッチーなメロディはいつまでも心に響いて離れない。ツイン・リードで駆け巡り、ブレイクダウンで落とすこのアルバムは、The Oath of the Wolves独自の世界観によって構築されている。
イギリス出身のメタルバンド Sylosis が、7作目のスタジオ・アルバム『The New Flesh』を 2026年2月20日に Nuclear Blast Records からリリースすることを発表した。あわせて、同名の表題曲「The New Flesh」のミュージックビデオと配信も公開された。
アルバムのトラックリストは全11曲。収録曲には「Beneath The Surface」「Erased」「All Glory, No Valour」「Lacerations」「Mirror Mirror」「Spared From The Guillotine」「Adorn My Throne」「The New Flesh」「Everywhere At Once」「Circle Of Swords」「Seeds In The River」が含まれる。
Chris Adler, ex drummer for groove metal legends Lamb of God, is back behind the kit with a new project, Shallow Rising. The band shared an official lyric video today for their debut track, “Further”.
「このアイデアは、Nikoが30年以上前に録音したデモ曲「The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter」を50歳の誕生日パーティーで演奏したいと言ったことから始まった。Fredrikは面白そうだと思い、ギターを弾きたいと申し出た。 その後、Andersも参加することになり、さらに友人達が加わり、このユニークなラインナップとしてバンドになり、かつての礎となった楽曲を作ることが出来たんだ。 一緒に演奏するのがとても楽しかったし、3人の元メンバーがオールドスクールなキラー音源をたくさん持っていることに気づいたので、演奏を続け、最終的には新曲をレコーディングすることを決めた、というのがバンドの始まりさ」。
Three former Amon Amarth members have reunited to form a new band called Fimbul Winter (not to be confused with the early 90’s Norwegian black metal group Fimbulwinter.)
The lineup includes original Amon Amarth members Niko Kaukinen on drums and Anders Biazzi (formerly Anders Hansson) on guitar, along with former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson, who now handles lead guitar duties. Joining them are Gustav Myrin on bass and Clint Williams on vocals.
Fimbul Winter is set to make their first official appearance at the Close-Up Båten cruise this September.

The focus for now is to play the old demo and classic songs we were all involved with in some way but we already have five original new songs written and demoed, some songs including riffs that were originally written for Amon Amarth, which will be recorded and released at some point.
The idea started with Niko wanting to play the demo ‘The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter’, which he recorded over 30 years ago, at his 50th-birthday party. Fredrik thought it sounded like fun and offered to play the guitar. After that Anders was asked to join in and then with the addition of friends Linus Nirbrant on bass and Clint on vocals, a selected amount of friends got to experience this unique lineup and hear the tracks that once laid the foundation to what was to become. Having so much fun playing together and realizing all three former members had a ton of killer old-school material, the decision to keep on playing and to eventually record new songs was made.
RIFF CULTのチームメンバーが運営しているRNR TOURSで招聘したことがあるバンドが掲載されていて驚きました。Light This City は2019年に初来日し、東名阪をツアー。かなり盛り上がった記憶があります。メンバーのLauraとBenはHeartsoundsというメロディックパンク・バンドでも活躍しており、HeartsoundsはEpitaph Recordsからアルバムをリリースした経歴もあり、こちらのツアーもRNR TOURSで企画しました。レビューの中に来日したことも明記されていて、自分のことのように嬉しかったですし、レビューも熱く、今一度アルバムを聴き返したいと思いました。

日本のバンドの紹介が充実している
Intestine Baalism、Blood Stain Childといった「メロデス」を語る上で欠かせない国内バンドのインタビューは読み応えありました。人柄が伝わってくるインタビューは、そのバンドをもっともっと好きになれるし、こうして書籍という形で残ることにとても意味を感じます。インタビュー以外にも日本のメタル・シーンについて丸々1ページ使って書かれた概要もかなり良くまとまってましたし、RNR TOURS/RIFF CULTで過去にブッキングさせていただいた多くのバンドが掲載されているのも嬉しかった。Alphoenix、Myproofをはじめ、Thousand Eyes、Serenity in Murder、Desolate Sphere、懐かしのDeGraceのレビューまで載ってるのが凄いです。View from the Soyuzの名前まで載ってます。
Imperial Circus Dead Decadenceかっこいい
日本のバンドのレビューをじっくり読みながら聴いていましたが、Imperial Circus Dead Decadenceは本当にかっこいい。もちろん存在は知っているし、聴いたこともありましたが、レビューを読みながら聴くという体験をしてみると、良さがさらに感じられました。「獄」はビデオもかっこいい。
