アメリカ・ニュージャージーを拠点とする伝説のマスコア・バンド、The Number Twelve Looks Like You (ザ・ナンバー・トゥエルブ・ルックス・ライク・ユー)は、2019年以来となるニュー・シングル「Eyes On The Fireworks」をドロップし、今年初めにEqual Vision Recordsとの契約を発表しました。2019年のアルバム『Wild Gods』で彼にカムバックしたカオティックハードコア/マスコア・シーンの技巧・芸術派として知られるThe Number Twelve Looks Like You。リリース後、初のシングルとなるだけでなく、新メンバーとしてベーシストのCody McCorryとドラマーMichael DeMarcoが加入し、初めて制作した作品であることも発表している。

NJ-based mathcore band The Number Twelve Looks Like You have dropped their first new single since 2019, “Eyes On The Fireworks,” marking their first release since signing with Equal Vision Records earlier this year.
This not only will be the first single from the band since the release of 2019’s LP, Wild Gods, it will also be the first to feature new members, bassist Cody McCorry and drummer Michael DeMarco.
Following the departure of drummer Vijesh Ghariwala last month, it looks like the original lineup of Singaporean grindcore band Wormrot is back together. Vocalist Arif Suhaimi and drummer Fitri have rejoined forces with guitarist Nurrasyid “Rasyid” Juraimi.
The band confirmed the reunion via social media today, August 22nd, and announced that fans can expect new music from the trio in 2025.
Silverstein have released a new music video for “Skin & Bones,” directed by Wyatt Clough. The new track is part of the Canadian post-hardcore band’s latest efforts.
Vocalist Shane Told shared the following:
‘Skin & Bones’ is a deeply emotional song, written about the sudden loss of a person who was once very close to me. Everyday we’re stuck in our own heads worrying about trivial things and never thinking about just how fragile we are. Life can be gone in an instant. I lost one of the greatest people I ever knew.
Recording out in Joshua Tree, in the middle of the desert, made it feel like we were starting with a totally blank canvas. Without external distractions, I found myself turning my attention inward. How did I really feel? What did I really want to say about it? And once I found that, the performance just poured out of me. Talking, singing, yelling, screaming…it’s all raw emotion in this track.

Memphis May Fire have premiered the official music video for their latest single, “Necessary Evil”, which released last month. Previously the band shared the standalone singles “Chaotic” and “Paralyzed”.
Oklahoma slam unit PeelingFlesh have dropped a new Justice Dodson-directed music video for their track “Perc 3000,” featuring DJ MRD of Lie. The song is from their upcoming album The G Code, which is set to be released on September 6th via Unique Leader Records.
「このアイデアは、Nikoが30年以上前に録音したデモ曲「The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter」を50歳の誕生日パーティーで演奏したいと言ったことから始まった。Fredrikは面白そうだと思い、ギターを弾きたいと申し出た。 その後、Andersも参加することになり、さらに友人達が加わり、このユニークなラインナップとしてバンドになり、かつての礎となった楽曲を作ることが出来たんだ。 一緒に演奏するのがとても楽しかったし、3人の元メンバーがオールドスクールなキラー音源をたくさん持っていることに気づいたので、演奏を続け、最終的には新曲をレコーディングすることを決めた、というのがバンドの始まりさ」。
Three former Amon Amarth members have reunited to form a new band called Fimbul Winter (not to be confused with the early 90’s Norwegian black metal group Fimbulwinter.)
The lineup includes original Amon Amarth members Niko Kaukinen on drums and Anders Biazzi (formerly Anders Hansson) on guitar, along with former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson, who now handles lead guitar duties. Joining them are Gustav Myrin on bass and Clint Williams on vocals.
Fimbul Winter is set to make their first official appearance at the Close-Up Båten cruise this September.

The focus for now is to play the old demo and classic songs we were all involved with in some way but we already have five original new songs written and demoed, some songs including riffs that were originally written for Amon Amarth, which will be recorded and released at some point.
The idea started with Niko wanting to play the demo ‘The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter’, which he recorded over 30 years ago, at his 50th-birthday party. Fredrik thought it sounded like fun and offered to play the guitar. After that Anders was asked to join in and then with the addition of friends Linus Nirbrant on bass and Clint on vocals, a selected amount of friends got to experience this unique lineup and hear the tracks that once laid the foundation to what was to become. Having so much fun playing together and realizing all three former members had a ton of killer old-school material, the decision to keep on playing and to eventually record new songs was made.
Long running Japanese death metal outfit Defiled have released the title track of the band’s upcoming album, Horror Beyond Horror, which is due out next month, September 20th via Season Of Mist.The latest single comes paired with a music video filmed and edited by Seaside 99 Works.

RIFF CULTのチームメンバーが運営しているRNR TOURSで招聘したことがあるバンドが掲載されていて驚きました。Light This City は2019年に初来日し、東名阪をツアー。かなり盛り上がった記憶があります。メンバーのLauraとBenはHeartsoundsというメロディックパンク・バンドでも活躍しており、HeartsoundsはEpitaph Recordsからアルバムをリリースした経歴もあり、こちらのツアーもRNR TOURSで企画しました。レビューの中に来日したことも明記されていて、自分のことのように嬉しかったですし、レビューも熱く、今一度アルバムを聴き返したいと思いました。

日本のバンドの紹介が充実している
Intestine Baalism、Blood Stain Childといった「メロデス」を語る上で欠かせない国内バンドのインタビューは読み応えありました。人柄が伝わってくるインタビューは、そのバンドをもっともっと好きになれるし、こうして書籍という形で残ることにとても意味を感じます。インタビュー以外にも日本のメタル・シーンについて丸々1ページ使って書かれた概要もかなり良くまとまってましたし、RNR TOURS/RIFF CULTで過去にブッキングさせていただいた多くのバンドが掲載されているのも嬉しかった。Alphoenix、Myproofをはじめ、Thousand Eyes、Serenity in Murder、Desolate Sphere、懐かしのDeGraceのレビューまで載ってるのが凄いです。View from the Soyuzの名前まで載ってます。
Imperial Circus Dead Decadenceかっこいい
日本のバンドのレビューをじっくり読みながら聴いていましたが、Imperial Circus Dead Decadenceは本当にかっこいい。もちろん存在は知っているし、聴いたこともありましたが、レビューを読みながら聴くという体験をしてみると、良さがさらに感じられました。「獄」はビデオもかっこいい。
